Cozens Ranch Museum will be the home of Nancy Larner’s found objects sculptures.

Nancy is a self-taught, found object, construction artist living in Evergreen, CO, for thirty three years. She had been an early-childhood educator for most of her professional life, teaching young children in public and private schools including special ed. She also taught art at Congregation Beth Evergreen and offered an after-school art class at Bergen Elementary School in Evergreen.

She painted mountain scenes on garage-sale furniture sold in several Colorado galleries and as far away as Connecticut. Born Free Gallery in Evergreen invited her to be the featured artist two years in a row. She was also commissioned to paint three large murals in Evergreen’s beloved Hiwan Homestead Museum’s Stone House.

Nancy states, “As far back as I can remember, scrounging has always been a way of life. I delight in discovering the potential a found object has within it. I love to recycle, upcycle and reuse. These days it’s “Recontrivancies,” once contrived, now recontrived into people sculptures constructed from vintage metal parts which I revive from discards and elevate into a piece of art.”

Her “Recontrivancies” have been shown in a number of Colorado galleries: Grand Lake, Winter Park,  Glenwood Springs, Conifer, Evergreen, the  Sante Fe art district in Denver, Tuscaloosa, AL, and Landers WY. She has been in many juried shows. Nancy has also been a member of Artists with Altitude, a professional women’s group in the mountain area.

Nancy’s work will be on display during normal museum hours; Thursday-Monday from 10am to 4pm at Cozens Ranch Museum in Fraser. So come by today and check it out!
