Heritage Park Museum

Heritage Park Museum boasts six historic buildings: the MacElroy Livery barn, the Hermitage ranch house, a 1915 Forest Service Ranger Station, the Ritschard family fishing cabin, plus the original Kremmling town jail and old railroad depot. At this time, the railroad depot is under construction and will not be open to the public. This historic museum near the banks of the Colorado River provides a window into the past life of early Grand County ranchers. Heritage Park Museum is in Kremmling, across from Big Shooter Coffee on N. 4th Street.

History

Heritage ParkThe project began with a proposal of constructing the Wolford Mountain Reservoir five miles north of Kremmling. Areas that would be flooded included the location of a well preserved two-story log homestead building dated approximately 1885. Known as the Fitch Homestead, the building was donated to the Grand County Historical Association by the current owner Daniel Ritchie, Chancellor of Denver University.

In 1994, the historic log cabin was moved from the site of the Wolford Mountain Reservoir into Kremmling to the property adjacent to the McElroy building. The livery/barn was donated to GCHA by Tim and Tami Menhennett of Kremmling
